So now I'm in a pickle! With the commitment to paint everyday - or as close to that as I can get, I've got tons of paintings to deal with. Some deserve frames, some don't. I don't want to spend my resources on frames when I need rent money, money for supplies and money for workshops and travel.
I have been experimenting with metallic spray paint along with other colors. The pure gold or silver paint is too harsh when sprayed directly onto the frame. So I tried mixing various paints on a tray.
I have used various combinations. The process is very satisfying because the aerosol paint dries so quickly!
In one of the pictures you can see a little sponge. I have used a sponging technique in the past - successfully, but it just wasn't working for the effect I wanted this time. The brush in the pictures here got better and better to use as the paint dried on it. It lays the paint on the frame in a slightly irregular way.
I have some gold frames to which I would like to give a silver hue. They were expensive - do I or don't I ??? Maybe I will limit my experimentation to the frames I picked up for $1 or $2 for now !!
