I have finished the painting formerly known as Kids Playing On A Hay Wagon. I say formerly because a great older man from Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, to be exact, told me that the kids were really working . When he saw my still wet painting, he asked if I knew what the children were doing on the wagon. I said, "of course, they are playing!". "Oh no", he said, "they are tamping down the hay." "So they are working too", I said. "Just like I used to when I was a kid", he said. He had a warm smile on his face as he gazed at the painting just before I took it home.
So, I learned something today. My mom and her brothers were helping Uncle Fritz bring in the hay!!!
