A discussion that started out about learning how to whistle ended up on a profound thought by my eight year old grandson. The eight year old can whistle. The five year old cannot. "So, you're still working on that?" "Yup", he replied. "You know", I said, "no matter how old you are, you're always working on learning something". The eight year old looked at me and said, "so what are you working on, Grandma?" I thought for a moment and said "Well, I am learning how to paint". "But Grandma, you know how to paint." "Ah", I said, " I want to know how to paint better, I want to see colors better."
"What do you mean?". "See that house over there? The part in the sun has yellow in it and the part in the shade has blue in it." "Oh", the eight year old said, "You mean that a white house is not white!" ---- I can't wait to go painting with this kid again!!!!!!!
